10 Awesome Adsense plugins for your wordpress blog!

If you love blogging like me, I’m sure you don’t care about the money (ok I was kidding). I’m sure many of us aspire to become full time bloggers like Darren Rowse of Problogger.net or maybe CF Liew from liewcf.com (closer to home). Obviously the first step towards that is writing decent posts on your blog and attracting traffic via search engines or social networks. That is definitely the hard part and step NUMBER 1! But there’s also an exciting part here which is actually monetizing your blog. Typically bloggers like to monetize their blog using various ad networks out there such as Adsense, Yahoo Publisher Network, Chitika etc. Adsense is by far the most popular and has a wide variety of advertisers as well. If you are using blogger for publishing your blog then good – its probably a piece of cake for you to integrate Adsense to your blog. But if you are like me, a wordpress lover, then you probably need to get familiar with a little bit of coding. But hang on, there is an easier way too – Adsense plugins for wordpress (isn’t this why we love wordpress in the first place?). Here is a list of Adsense plugins for wordpress that you might want to try!

Which would you prefer – More twitter followers or RSS subscribers?

I’ve recently been spending a lot of time on Twitter. And it is interesting to note that there are quite a number of Malaysians on Twitter now. Internet marketers love Twitter and its now very popular among bloggers too. I have been tweeting my recent posts regularly on twitter and it seems to be getting me new followers most of the time. There used to be a time when bloggers solely depended on RSS subscribers but now it seems that they are spending most of their time marketing their blog on twitter to the extent that there seems to be not much of emphasis on RSS subscribers anymore. But is this the right thing to do?

So have you started using twitter?

Finally I’ve got all my schedule sorted out and back to blogging at matblogger. I have decided to put up Newgadgetsguru for sale as I’ve really no time to update it on a regular basis. So what have I been up to lately? Well other than the fact that I’ve setup my own company specializing in iPhone Apps development. I’ve also been spending a lot of time on twitter. I’ve been tweeting under the name of newgadgetsguru which is pretty much the name I started using when I began blogging about a year ago.

Enabling Do Follow to encourage more comments on your blog

A blog is very different from a website in the sense that it is more personal. A blog becomes more lively and interactive when readers start commenting. I have been lucky enough to have interesting comments from a few readers on Malaysian Tech Blogger. Its been the same with Newgadgetsguru as well (my other blog). But sometimes you could encourage people to comment on your blog by giving them something in return. One of the ways is to enable “do-follow” on the links of the comments that have been approved.

Get a free web site and hosting for your blog

hyperwebenable-free-web-hosting1Typically most bloggers who start out blogging tend to use free blogging platforms such as blogger. Not a bad idea if you intend to get a hang of it and want to start with zero investment. But if you want to be seen as a serious blogger, you will need to get a custom domain for yourself. For that purpose, wordpress is highly recommended. But unfortunately you will not be able to host your customer domain for free and you will need to look for a webhost. So basically there are 2 costs here: cost of the domain registration and the cost of web hosting. What is the best plan for this?

Can you achieve Page Rank 4 within four months?

newgadgetsguru-page-rank-44 months to Page Rank 4 – Is it possible? Certainly is possible! My proof is my gadget blog Newgadgetsguru. I started Newgadgetsguru in September 2008 and by January 2nd 2009 I had achieved PR4. I myself was amazed at how quickly the blog climbed from PR0 to PR2 and then to PR4. Guess Google must love me!

Expandable adsense ads not for Malaysia – updated

expandable_ad2Google Adsense has recently introduced a nice new feature for adsense ads – expandable ads! Pretty nice feature to have as it is really non intrusive, but its really going to be something to look forward to for a while for us Malaysian bloggers since it is available only for North American and European publishers. Isn’t it weird that Google actually makes it available for publishers based on their location rather than the reader’s location? Something wrong with the marketing team perhaps.

What are these expandable ads?

Here’s what Google has to say:

Expandable ads will be served as third-party ads and will be created by Google-certified rich media vendors for the top display advertisers in our network. And like other Google ads, you’ll earn based on whether the expandable ads on your site are priced on a cost-per-click (CPC) or cost-per-impression (CPM) basis. Keep in mind that you’ll generate earnings from CPC expandable ads when a user visits the advertiser’s landing page, and not when a user simply clicks to expand the ad.
